Deborah Hill
Professional Artist And Instructor In Mixed Media
Certified Powertex Instructor and Artplace Mixed Media Speicialist
“With experimentation between disciplines at an all time peak, it’s a delightfully luscious period in the history of art to be alive and painting.” Deborah Hill
An artist worth watching, Deborah is proving to be a pioneer in the Powertex field.
Having worked upwards of eighteen years in the decorative industry painting large scale murals and faux finishes Deborah decided to return to her first love of fine art a few years ago. She feels there is very little more refreshing than putting paint down on a beautiful piece of watercolor paper or crisp white canvas. Nature is a source of inspiration; imaginary places, fantastical creatures, pattern and motif all grab her attention.
Having a solid commercial background developed good work habits and ingenuity with materials which is clearly evident in her collage applications and many of her other mixed media processes. With a sharp eye for composition and color she produces work that draws you in, grabs your attention and makes you want to know what the story is behind each piece.
Deborah works predominately with water media which for her is anything that can be cleaned up with soap and water. Found objects, paper clay and Powertex products are a few of the materials that assist in achieving the depth of texture and layering so evident in her art. She’s equally comfortable with watercolor, ink and acrylic and often works through a subject in a variety of media on different surfaces to get just the right visual effect.
At present, besides making art, she also conducts classes and workshops for Jerry’s Artarama in Houston and through her studio in Cypress, Texas. Deborah is active with community art leagues and Watercolor Art Society Houston and has works in collections nationally and abroad.
As a Powertex Certified Instructor and Artplace Mixed Media Specialist, Deborah is fully proficient in many techniques involving Powertex textile hardeners and epoxy clays.
Deborah is available for classes and workshops in her studio and classroom in Cypress, Texas, a suburb of Houston. Workshops can be scheduled in your place of choice. Minimum attendance, fee, and travel expenses are included in travel workshops and classes. For specific information about scheduling personal or group training with Deborah, please email us with your preferences at info@artplace.com.

- Wanted to tell you that I just finished a workshop with Deb Hill here in Houston. She showed me the incredible things I can do with this media. She was extremely informative and helpful. She just changed my life, taking my art to the next level!!! You should commend her – she’s very talented and made a convert of me. Go Powertex!
Regards, Maureen Seeba http://www.SteelMosaics.com - I was recently introduced to Powertex products by Deborah Hill at her workshop. Deborah is an excellent instructor and made the workshop a fun learning experience.
