The slogan for this site is “Go with the flow.” Doug is the CEO of Artplace, Inc. and the originator of this site and the slogan.
Go with the flow is how he creates art. He is an intuitive artist. What does that mean? His art is created on the fly. Rarely does he have a sketch or solid idea of what the finished art will be when he begins.
Doug is a master of techniques. He spends his time experimenting with different mediums to see how many different effects he can achieve. He then uses those experimental techniques to transform a canvas, piece of wood, metal or foam into a sculpture or wall piece.
His work evolves as it is produced. From the beginning the work itself dictates what the next step will be.
His artwork is owned by collectors across the U.S. and abroad.
Doug conducts classes and workshops with Powertex fabric hardener, epoxy clays, foam carving, and metal finishes, and acrylic painting.
