I came out of the womb drawing and dancing and I haven’t stopped. Art is extension of who I am and its expression shows up in everything I do.I began by making mud pies and graduated to disassembling every thing I could find from my mother’s treasured mantle clock on up. I would take them apart and “re-arrange” them. This was not always a successful or pleseant experience. But, my creative nature was undaunted.

My father bought me art supplies to keep me out of trouble and to salvage the family home. I had a vast assortment of supplies and at 12 I had my own sewing machine and by 14 had my first glass enameling kiln.

I graduated high school in the late 60’s (yes, I am almost older than dirt). It was a time when women were gaining their own in the workforce so I was encouraged to get a “real job”. I studied law and then moved on to a degree in education working with special children. I became known as the “VBS” teacher because I had an art project attached to most of my assignments. Here was where I discovered the real power of creative expression. I watched as most of my students made faster and more significant gains than their fellows. I still work with those having PTSD and other issues and find art a major portion of their recovery.

I have worked in textile art most of my life and in 1995 was introduced to the medium of clay. I was hooked and began a journey that is still in progress. I love to watch as the clay responds to me and together we explore its limits. I am now working on combining my love for fiber arts and ceramics in sculptural works.

For several years, I have been developing an international network of people of faith involved in the arts. The goal of which is to provide training, venues and environments that will both stimulate creativity and speak into current culture. I recently returned from Israel and have begun organizing a tour for artists that will involve an exchange between Israeli artists those on the tour.
