Self-Hardening Clay

The Secret Is Out In The Art World

It is gaining in popularity by the day as artists discover the versatility of self-hardening clay. Often known as epoxy clay with brand names of Magic Sculpt and Apoxie Sculpt being the most popular.

So what’s the big deal? What is there to discover? What’s so secret about it?

Actually it has been used by taxidermists for years. In fact Apoxie Sculpt was created by a taxidermist. One of the cool things about is that you can put it under a hide to fill in around a form, manipulate it after the hide is attached over it, give it a few hours and it is set forever in that position. Or it can be used to sculpt parts or replace missing areas. Since I am not a taxidermist, I really don’t what all they use it for.

But I do know some things to do with it in creating fine art. But I hear and see new ways to use all the time. Below are some articles about epoxy clay’s self-hardening benefits.
